A Living Hope

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith — more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire — may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him.

Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

~1 Peter 1:3-9 ESV~

A living hope

God’s mercy is great! His ways are righteous. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, He has offered us a gift that we could never earn on our own. It is the gift of Salvation through the holy sacrifice of His Son, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning its shame and is now seated at the right hand of the Throne of God. Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith. This perfect gift that was sent for the saving of us in the world so that we may have life and have it abundantly, is waiting for you to seek Him. Jesus Christ taught that He is the door – He said, “if anyone enters through Him, that person will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” A pasture: a safe place to rest as God’s adopted sons and daughters, In Christ Jesus. Jesus is the mediator who stands in our place for the sins of this world and has taken that punishment upon Himself, so that we may be saved. 1 Timothy 2 says this about offering prayer and petition in all thanksgiving on behalf of all men without wrath and dissension so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all dignity & godliness: “This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.” Prayer and petition on behalf of all men – God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of Truth, it says. Let us continue to lift one another up in the Body of Christ – and for those who do not know Him, are hurting, are lost, have turned away in the same way the prodigal son did, are walking in the sin that temptation sucked them into, and all others who need prayer. We were all once a sinner, in need of grace, forgiveness, mercy, & saving. Let us not forget this. Let us strive to maintain the Unity of the Spirit, encouraging one another and edifying one another as the body of Christ – working together in prayer and petition in all thanksgiving on behalf of all men, interceding on the behalf of those who cannot pray for themselves or do not know how to do so.

The Importance of Prayer

Let them see Jesus Christ in every action you take; in how you respond to others demonstrating His love; in thoughts you share outloud and those you do not; in words you speak and write; in priorities concerning God’s order you establish for all to see; in showing your yes to be yes and no to be no through following through in all verbal commitments; in decisions and choices you make understanding that all of them impact others; in the quality of time you invest in the relationships nearest you; in all your ways – acknowledge Him – and He will make your paths straight.
